Frequently Asked Questions

Is HeyApple free?

You can use the app for free for the first month after your initial sign-up. Beyond that, it’s going to cost you $1.00 per month to keep using it with all features enabled. One of our main goals is to be as affordable as we can while still being able to keep the lights on, so we try to not charge more than we have to.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Log into the app and head to your Profile settings. There is a section there that lets you cancel your subscription in a few clicks. It’s also where you can re-subscribe later if you wish to.

Where do you get your nutritional data from?

We source our data from large national and international databases that have a long-standing history of reliability and accuracy. Chief among them are:

Branded foods and foods that you can find by scanning their barcodes are sourced from Open Food Facts. Keep in mind that nutritional labels on branded foods are generally less reliable because they depend entirely on the acurate reporting by their manufacturers.

How many languages does HeyApple support?

HeyApple supports English and German at the moment. That includes the app itself as well as all the foods and nutrients. We are continually working on adding more languages, though.

We are actively looking into ways to translate recipe names and instructions automatically and reliably, but until we’re satisfied with the quality, recipes will only be available in the language they were originally written in.

How do I switch to a different language?

Log into the app and navigate to the App Settings. The option to switch to a different language is right there along with lots of other ways to customize the app appearance.

Can I integrate data from exercise apps and wearables?

We have no current or near-future plans to integrate data from third-party apps, especially when they’re not directly related to nutrition. HeyApple is an app with a very narrow focus on nutrition and meal prepping, so we’re very conscious of staying within that scope.

On the other hand, connecting HeyApple to other apps as a provider of data is a useful feature to have, so we’re open to exploring that avenue once the core feature set is stable enough.
